It's mostly convenient.

What really surprised me was how well it worked on my niece's extremely curly hair. She's 7 years old and likes her hair straightened, but it usually takes my sister a long time. I was able to straighten her hair, which had been in braids for two days, in just 20 minutes. Normally, it takes over an hour with a regular straightener. Although the Berlaney isn't as effective on my straight hair as it is on my niece's curly hair, I like how easy it is to use and its overall performance.

I love my natural curls, but sometimes I want to change things up, and this was the perfect straightener. The straightness has lasted for about a week now, which is longer than it would've lasted if I'd gone to the salon. If you have natural hair and want to do a homemade silk press, get a straightening comb!

Don't be in a hurry.

Pass the comb through the small section of hair at a moderate pace - not too fast and not too slow. One slow pass is better than five fast passes.

First I'll apply a conditioner.

I've experimented with different methods: blow - drying and immediately straightening, blow - drying and straightening the next morning, and air - drying with a little dampness left before straightening. Each method gave similar results. I always use a blow - out cream as a heat protectant. Overall, I'm happy with it and will keep using it.
